Helping  Families Move From Crisis to Stability

RESOUNDING MIND.png
Our MISSION

Resounding Mind exists to help women, families, seniors, and youth move from crisis to long-term stability. We combine immediate support such as food access and housing assistance with practical financial education so that families are not simply surviving today's challenges but building a stronger future for tomorrow. Our vision is to support individuals and families in building stable, healthy, and self-sufficient lives. We are committed to strengthening communities where people are treated with dignity, have equitable access to resources, and are empowered to improve their overall well-being.

WHY IT MATTERS?

Across Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee, too many families continue to struggle to meet their most basic needs. The Chattanooga Area Food Bank reports that 1 in 6 households in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia experiences food insecurity, meaning thousands of families are uncertain where their next meal will come from. More than 49,000 children in the region face hunger, and demand for food assistance continues to increase as the cost of housing, utilities, transportation, and groceries rises.

Financial insecurity often extends beyond food. Recent Tennessee data found that 17% of families reported utility insecurity, meaning they struggled to pay for essential services such as electricity, water, or heating, while many households also faced housing instability and other financial hardships. Nearly 4 in 10 Tennessee families reported unmet food, utility, or housing needs within the past year, demonstrating how closely these challenges are connected.

This is why the work of Resounding Mind is needed. We regularly meet hardworking families, seniors on fixed incomes, and individuals facing unexpected setbacks who must choose between buying groceries, keeping the lights on, paying rent, or filling prescriptions. Our programs help bridge these gaps by providing food access, financial literacy education, and housing and utility support that prevent short-term struggles from becoming long-term crises. By addressing immediate needs while helping participants build stronger financial foundations, we help families move from instability toward self-sufficiency and long-term well-being.

WHY WE STARTED?

Resounding Mind began after seeing families repeatedly forced to choose between paying utility bills, purchasing groceries, or meeting other basic needs. We realized that emergency assistance alone was not enough. Families needed practical support, financial education, and someone willing to walk alongside them while they rebuilt stability.
